Jok weaving is where small details do the heavy lifting. Tiny birds, serpents, hooks and diamonds rise out of the cloth in bright silk, sitting on top of a simpler ground like jewelry on skin. This is the world of discontinuous supplementary weft, known locally as jok or chok, created by Lao-Tai weavers across the Mekong region.
